Bird flu surfaces in Lagos and Abuja

The federal government of Nigeria has given an alert of possible outbreak of  the avian influenza virus popularly known as bird flu in states like Kano and Lagos .

This was made known by the ministry of agriculture and rural development, they got reports of unusual high mortality rate of birds in two poultry farms  and live bird markets in Kano and Lagos.

Samples sent to the National Veterinary Research institute in which they tested positive of the virus.

The ministry also said they have taken the necessary steps so as to stop. The widespread of the virus.
