Cristiano Ronaldo refused to answer questions from a Portuguese journalist after he found out she worked for a television arm of a paper he’s had a notoriously rocky relationship with. The paper, Correio da Manhã, has speculated about the mother of Ronaldo’s 4-year-old son, as well as reported on various other aspects about the Portuguese national team that Ronaldo and others have denied are true, so the following interaction shouldn’t come as that much of a surprise.
Here’s the translation (via Reddit), after the reporter introduces herself and adds that she is from “CMTV.”
The reporter was attempting to ask Ronaldo about Tuesday night’s Euro 2016 qualifying match between Portugal and Denmark. The coach of the Portuguese side, Fernando Santos, formerly the coach of Greece, was cleared on Monday to join the team on the sidelines after the Court of Arbitration for Sport granted him an exception from an eight-game suspension, Yahoo Sports reports. FIFA banned Santos for eight games after taking World Cup officials to task during a match between Greece and Costa Rica. Santos has an appeal pending to overturn the entire suspension with the court.Ronaldo: “From where?”
CMTV Reporter: “CMTV”
Ronaldo: “What is CMTV?”
Off-screen: “It’s Correio da Manha.”
Ronaldo: “Ah, then forget it, I’m not going to respond.”
CMTV Reporter: “About the game against Denmark?”
Ronaldo: “There’s no point”
