Gary,
Indiana police say a 13-year-old boy was fatally shot by a neighbor who
became enraged when the teen laughed at him when the man discovered that
his home had been burglarized.
Lt.
Thomas Pawlak tells the Post-Tribune Kobe Jones was pronounced dead
Friday evening at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
Pawlak
says a neighbor shot Jones nine times after the teen laughed at him as
the man began yelling in anger outside his burglarized home at the 1000
block of Polk Street.

Shot dead: Kobe Jones, 13, was
allegedly shot by his neighbor because he laughed at him after his
Indiana home was burglarized just hours before

Heartbroken: Kobe's stepmother told
reporters that the death of a child is 'a horrible thing' as she mourns
her stepson's untimely death on Friday evening
The
home was burglarized at around 12:30 p.m. and when the shooter and his
girlfriend returned home five hours later they were visibly upset and
'making a scene'.
Pawlak says the man and his girlfriend fled the crime scene in a car but returned about two hours later and were arrested.
He says they were being held at the city jail and charges are pending.
